Walked alone during day and night (around 10-17 miles a day) and no incidents. Think it’s safe if you’re not being an obvious target. Don’t stare at phone, don’t wear a backpack etc. May be fine either way though. Definitely don’t let fear deter you from Buenos Aires - it’s a great city and I was totally fine as a solo female traveler.

I don't find Buenos Aires to be a dangerous city. I do think the amount of non-violent crime is higher today vs. past years but still the vast majority of people won't have problems in Recoleta, Barrio Norte, Puerto Madero, Palermo (areas where most tourists spend their time and the more affluent parts of the city).

About it being dangerous: I’m from Buenos Aires I spend a lot of time in the city and also in the Metro area, it has been dangerous for many decades there has always been a lot of crime, it got better for a while and then insecurity began to rise again.
